We have had a huge day at the show today. It was me and 3 little children who were on their best behaviour. Every place we went we would stop and dutifully write in little books what we had just seen so Daddy would miss out on none of the excitement.
The kids lasted for much longer than I ever believed they could. We spent hours browsing the llamas, alpacas, goats, sheep, cattle, chooks, pigs (the list goes on) before I could even get near the craft pavilion. By then I was suddenly very nervous and we had to head straight for the area I knew my little dress would be hanging.
I was very excited to see the little ribbon proclaiming my 1st place but a little disappointed that it was the only article in the class. There were only two smocked dresses in the show and I was wondering if this was normal these days. I love my little girl and my nieces in their little smocked dresses. To me it is one of those things that lets a little girl look like a little girl.
I would happily now curl up and sleep off my hours spent in the sun but I really must think about baths and bedtime books...
Woohoo! Congratulations! And remember, they don't HAVE to give out first prize...
ReplyDeleteThanks. The kids kept running back to the dress and in very loud voices saying "and look mummy you got a ribbon you must be very happy". It was like they were trained :-)
ReplyDeleteThat dress is beautiful, it must have taken you ages to smock it, Im envious of those with thread and needle skills :)
ReplyDeleteIt did take ages but I really enjoy needlework and I can't wait for my little girl to wear it at Christmas :-)
